Sample Funding Descriptions for Proposals

Feel free to copy either of these descriptions directly into any grant proposals you are writing.

Basic Funding Boilerplate Text

We plan to use Transana to analyze our video data. Transana is a computer program that enables researchers to transcribe and analyze large collections of video data. It is unique in the market in that it allows researchers to:

  • Identify and access analytically significant portions of video data
  • Organize video clips into meaningful categories
  • Apply searchable analytic keywords to video clips
  • Engage in data mining and hypothesis testing across large video collections
  • Share analytic markup with distant colleagues

Transana’s features make it ideal for the kind of work we are doing. While Transana is open source, its developers rely on funding from outside sources to continue their efforts. Our contribution to this effort will help ensure that development of and support for Transana continues during the duration of this project. Funds may also be used for the implementation of new features and versions of the product.

Our efforts on this project would be significantly enhanced by the addition of xxxxxxx support in Transana, a feature which is not currently available. In consultation with the developers, we’ve created a plan which, if funded, would allow for the implementation of this feature in time for us to use it in our research and analysis.
