Setting up your Computer - Windows

Pythonwin, the Python Windows Extensions

On Windows, Transana uses Pythonwin, the Python Windows Extensions, to be able to connect to Windows Media Player. We do not use Pythonwin's GUI tools, as they are not cross-platform. Therefore, the next step in getting your computer ready to work on Transana's source code is to download and install Pythonwin. Information and downloads are available at http://starship.python.net/crew/mhammond/. We are currently using build 207 for Python 2.4.

When installing PythonWin 2.07, look at the last installation screen carefully. It may tell you that you also need a file called "MFC71.dll". If so, you can download it from http://starship.python.net/crew/mhammond/win32/ and save it in your C:\Windows\System32 or C:\WinNT\System32 folder.

The next step is to set up the pyMedia component.
