Creating an Episode

After you create a Series, you can add an Episode.

Complete the activity below with the sample video on the Transana Web site. You can download the video Demo.mpg (available on the Downloads page on the Transana website (http://www.transana.org) and store it on your hard drive in a location where you will be able to find it such as C:\Program Files\Transana 2\Sample\Demo.mpg if you are using Windows or in HOME/Movies/Sample/Demo.mpg if you are using Macintosh OS/X.

The sample video shows a second-grade class learning geometry through a quilt design and construction activity.

Activity:

  1. Right-click on Sample under the Series node.
  2. Select "Add Episode" from the menu.

    Note:
    The Series ID is filled in, and your Default Keyword Group and Keywords are shown.

  3. In the Episode ID field, enter "Sample Video."
  4. Click the "Browse" button to select the Demo.mpg video file in the C:\ProgramFiles\Transana 2\Sample folder for Windows or the HOME/Movies/Sample folder for the Mac (or wherever you saved it).
  5. Double-click on the "Geometry" and "Quilt" Keywords to assign these Keywords to this Episode.

Transana will now display the Add Transcript dialog box.

Note:
This video is a lesson on teaching geometry through a quilting exercise, and adding those Keywords to the Episode will make them the default Keywords for all Clips made from this Episode.
