Viewing a Clip
Activity: You can download the video Demo.mpg (available
on the Downloads page on the Transana website (http://www.transana.org) and store
it on your hard drive in a location where you will be able to find it such as
C:\Program Files\Transana 2\Sample\Demo.mpg if you are using Windows or in HOME/Movies/Sample/Demo.mpg
if you are using Macintosh OS/X.
The sample video shows a second-grade class learning geometry through a quilt
design and construction activity.
To view a Clip:
- In the Database
tree, double-click the Clip you created (in the Data window).
- In the Video window, click "Play."
- Play the Clip you just created.
- In the Database tree, return to the entire
Transcript by double-clicking the
name of the Transcript (Sample Transcript).
Now try this
method.
- In the Data
window, click on the Episode Clips tab.
The Episode Clips
tab shows all Clips created from the current Episode in order of start time.
- To view the Clip you created (called "Introduction") double-click it
in this list. (If this tab is not displayed, double-click "Sample
Transcript" in the Database tree to load this Episode.)
Note:
Sometimes you might want to see the context of the Clip. For
example, you may want to see what happened right before or right after your
Clip. To move from a Clip back to the Episode from which it was created
- Right-click
the Clip in the Data window's Database tab.
- In the pop-up
menu, select "Locate Clip in Episode."
Try that now for
the Introduction Clip in the Symmetry Collection. The Episode Video is now automatically
positioned at the start of the Clip, and the first part of the Transcript related
to the Clip becomes highlighted.
