Adding time codes to a transcript

Time codes are marks in the transcript that link the transcipt to a specific point in the video. They are useful in synchronizing a transcript with the video and are essential for defining the start and end point of a clip within a video.

You can right-click on a portion of the transcript to play that section in the video screen. If you play the video on its own, it will highlight the transcript as you go along, as long as you are not in Edit Mode.

To insert a time code:

1. Play the video in Transana. See Playing a video. Pause the video at the spot you want, or select the precise spot in the waveform window.

2. Click the corresponding spot in the transcript to position the editing cursor.

3. When the corect video position is displayed in the sound visualization window and the cursor is in the correct position in the transcript, click the Current button in the sound visualization window.

Note - Alternative method: While in the Transcript window, press Ctrl-T on the keyboard.
